The Challenge 

In early 2022, Arenko, a business operating at the intersection of energy and technology, wanted to successfully pivot to a software-led model. Despite strong ambitions, the organisation faced a number of challenges typical of a scaling business: 

  • A technology stack that needed maturing 
  • Delivery and strategic processes that needed further development 
  • A small engineering team with hard-to-find skill sets 
  • Growth momentum slowing, with a headcount of around 50 

With internal systems under pressure and ambitious growth goals ahead, Arenko needed rapid but sustainable transformation across both technology and operating models. 

Our Approach 

Revoco built a small consultancy team that was embedded within Arenko to help establish scalable development practices and drive transformation across the business. This included: 

  • Rearchitecting delivery processes to increase speed and quality without compromising long-term sustainability 
  • Embedding agile frameworks and coaching to strengthen team structures and improve delivery discipline 
  • Introducing strategic planning cycles at executive level to align technology decisions with commercial goals 
  • Spearheading the recruitment and onboarding alongside the internal team to build technical and operational capability 
  • Augmenting contract resource with urgency, while backfilling with permanent leadership roles to ensure lasting impact 
  • Use of our Hindsight tool to continuously enhance the candidate journey and highlight areas for investment.  

The Impact 

By January 2023, Arenko had successfully pivoted to a full software business, achieving sustainable development practices, improved technical quality, and strong leadership alignment. Ultimately, we helped them get “fit” for scaling. 

Key Results 

  • 21 permanent hires and 5 contract roles, including critical leadership positions 
  • Dedicated consultancy team embedded under a Statement of Work to drive the transformation 
  • ~60% reduction in time-to-hire 
  • Strategic alignment between technology, delivery, and executive decision-making 
  • Improved quality of hire and team performance 
  • Continuous improvement through real-time feedback loops via our Hindsight tool
