Principal Consultant - Contract Guru
Guy toured the leisure centers of the UK as a child competing in national Badminton competitions. From a young age however, it became clear Guy’s influencing and rapport building skills outweighed his sporting prowess. Motivated by the incentive from his parents of £1 for every point scored against, the now Commonwealth Champion, Chris Adcock, Guy scored a disappointing 21-0 21-0 loss! Upon shaking hands Guy quickly set to negotiating with Chris to record a better score along with a split of the profits. While his mum was a little perplexed how the (on paper) 3 set epic was over in under 10 minutes, it was a key life lesson for young Guy.
It was this key theme of working smart rather than hard that continued through Guy’s academic career, using the fact his older brother had attended a different junior school to his advantage - on one occasion badging up an entire year long Geography project as his own! One key mistake was to undertake a different degree to his brother, meaning his days of plagiarizing coursework quickly came to an end. Despite that gaffe, Guy came away with a degree in Business Studies from Chester University and a new found ambition and drive. Following an 18 month backpacking trip through the Americas and Australasia Guy fell in to a role in sales where he was regularly the top performer in a small team. It was through a connection there that Guy was introduced to the world of recruitment.
So, starting his recruitment career in 2014 at Opus, he put his ability to engage with people at all levels to good use establishing a leading network in the Retail market. He quickly learned that he could use his network to provide exceptional recommendations and references to add real value to his clients’ search.
In the last year he has become the proud father of twins, the owner of a Volvo (and a roof box) and generally a grumpy old man – It was this change in circumstance and desire to offer a broader partnering relationship with his clients that led him to join Revoco. And the rest as they say is history.
