Looking to move to Bristol?

If you’re after a change of scenery, here’s why we think a move to Bristol should be at the top of your list!

Bristol is often known for its culture, balloons and Banksy… oh, and (most recently) for chucking Edward Colston’s statue in the harbour!

But, it’s so much more than that.

Only a handful of the Revoco team are actually Bristol born and bred. The rest? Well, they moved here. So there must be a pretty good reason why Bristol is so amazing, right?

Often described as one of the best places to live in the UK, it’s the perfect place if you want a ‘city life’ whilst still being a stone’s through away from the countryside and the beach.

For me, I moved to Bristol for two main reasons – the music and the food. Almost 6 years ago, I relocated here to become the next big DJ, which (as you can probably tell) didn’t quite work out! But I’m still so glad I moved here. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to be where I am now.

So, why is Bristol so amazing? Here are just a handful of reasons:

The city

Bristol has a culture that’s creative, diverse, and welcoming. There’s always something going on. Whether it’s the Bristol Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court or UP FEST (Europe’s largest street art and graffiti festival), you’re sure to see something interesting and eye-catching everywhere you look.

Compared to many other cities, Bristol is also one of the cities leading the way in becoming more green. Bristol was named the Green Capital of Europe back in 2015 and I still think it shows. Scattered around Bristol are thousands of travel alternatives like e-scooters and e-bikes (although some Bristolians are not their biggest fans!). It also offers a multitude of cycle paths and more recently, First Bus are trialling a gas-powered bus, commonly known as the poo bus, as they’re powered on biomethane created using human and food waste!

And the people? Well, you won’t find somewhere else that has such an eclectic mix of people.

Food

Without a doubt, Bristol’s home to some of the best restaurants, bars, and street food establishments the country has to offer. You’ll never be short of choice. In fact, it’s actually a bit of a curse having to pick where to go! Luckily, we get to experience some of the best places through incentives and Director’s lunches.

Some must-try places include; Matina, Pasture, Pasta Loco, Squeezed and Three Brothers Burgers 🍔

Music & nightlife

Previously named ‘the most musical city’ in the UK, it’s no surprise that Bristol’s music scene is absolutely thriving. There’s truly something for everyone, no matter what your cup of tea is. Whether it’s a gig, DnB rave, all-day festival or a trip to the theatre, Bristol can accommodate. It’s the perfect place for up and coming artists to find a name for themselves.

As for its general nightlife, there’s something for everyone every day of the week. I also couldn’t talk about the nightlife without giving an honourable mention to Gloucester Road – the best pub crawl around!

Innovation

With Bristol being one of the best tech hubs for start-ups, there’s a huge amount of innovation coming out of incubators like SETsquared Bristol. Last year alone, £636 million was secured by Bristol businesses – including the likes of Ultraleap, Moneyhub and Huboo. Not only is Bristol home to a number of tech giants (OVO, Graphcore), but it’s also becoming a hot destination for companies to open up new offices due to the huge amount of talent that resides here (JustEat, Elvie). So, if you’re looking to work with some of the coolest tech companies in the UK, what better place eh?

For anybody who lives in Bristol, you know there’s a never-ending list of reasons to move here, but these are just a handful of reasons! So, if you’re thinking about making the jump to Bristol, what’s stopping you?

(p.s. if you’re looking to make the move to Bristol and looking to work somewhere amazing, we’re hiring awesome recruiters to join us at Revoco!)
